NKT Victoria – approved for biofuel

NKT has certified the cable-laying vessel NKT Victoria for biobased fuel in the form of hydro-treated vegetable oil (HVO), which significantly reduces the carbon footprint during operation at sea.

As one of the first companies in the power cable industry, NKT has certified the cable laying vessel NKT Victoria to be powered by HVO. The certification enables NKT to reduce carbon dioxide emissions from the vessel’s fuel consumption by more than 98%*, which is an important contribution to the company’s goal of reducing its carbon footprint.

With the biobased fuel certification of NKT Victoria, we once again demonstrate our commitment to sustainability as a leading company in the industry. An important part of our work to achieve the goals of reduced carbon dioxide emissions is to reduce emissions from our maritime operations. “By using biofuel, we can also continue to meet our customers’ increased expectations for services with lower carbon dioxide emissions,” says Claes Westerlind, CEO and Group CEO of NKT.
