MTC is Sweden’s leading environment for applied research in marine technology.
Here, researchers, companies and public actors come together to develop new technologies that make a difference – above, beneath and beyond the surface.
We conduct applied research in ocean-based energy – from wind and waves to underwater electrification.
MTC collaborates with the Swedish Armed Forces, FMV and industry partners in developing autonomous underwater systems and maritime defense technologies.
Through sensors, data and AI, we monitor marine life, movement and environmental impact – for a safe and sustainable future.
We develop digital platforms, simulations and decision-support systems that connect people, machines and the ocean.
At MTC, applied research makes a real difference. Together with BTH, industry and public partners, we develop new technologies that strengthen Sweden’s marine competence, increase security and contribute to a sustainable future.
Behind every project stand researchers driven by a passion for marine technology and a strong desire to turn ideas into reality. At MTC and BTH, researchers, PhD students and experts work closely with industry to create solutions that enhance Sweden’s maritime capability – under the surface, on the surface, and beyond the horizon.
MTC is part of Blekinge Institute of Technology’s (BTH) research environment in marine technology – an initiative carried out in close collaboration with Region Blekinge, the Swedish Armed Forces and industry partners. By combining academic excellence with practical experience, we create solutions that strengthen Sweden’s marine innovation capacity.
In partnership with Blekinge Institute of Technology, we conduct research focused on application, digitalization and sustainability. Our researchers are part of BTH’s strong environment in systems engineering and marine innovation.
We work with leading partners such as Saab Kockums, FMV, NKT and the Swedish Coast Guard.
Together we develop future marine systems and testbeds where new technology meets real-world needs.
Region Blekinge and BTH have joined forces to build a leading research environment in marine technology – an investment of SEK 50 million over five years, strengthening Sweden’s position internationally.
To turn research results into real solutions, testing environments that mirror reality are essential.
In collaboration with BTH, MTC offers several unique testbeds where researchers, companies and defense actors can develop, verify and scale up technology in authentic marine settings.
