Applied test environment for marine systems – from lab to sea

The MTC Testbed at BTH is a coordinated platform for the development, verification, and scaling up of marine technology. It combines physical and digital infrastructure with research, education, and industrial collaborations.

The test environment encompasses everything from lab environments at BTH to field-based tests in real-world marine conditions. A central part of the testbed is Danmarksfjärden – a coastal underwater environment where technology is tested under authentic conditions.

Examples of activities and projects:

• Testing of sensor systems, communication solutions, and AI
• Navigation and control systems for autonomous vehicles
• Verification of underwater platforms (e.g., UVS1300 Malen)
• Field simulations and long-term tests in the Baltic Sea
